IT solutions for insurance companies are shaped by complex, interconnected systems. Sales journeys run across several applications, from the first customer inquiry to the completed policy. Policy administration takes place in SAP, while web frontends and form systems must work together seamlessly. End-to-end test automation across this system landscape was previously hardly feasible – the effort required for adjustments and scripting was too high. It was precisely in these “white spots” that twinformatics aimed to increase automated test coverage.

Test Automation with drvless

Since 2020, twinformatics has been using Objentis drvless automation – a solution based on image recognition and AI. drvless acts like a human user: the tool recognizes interfaces, navigates through processes, and checks whether each step has been executed correctly. It works entirely without invasive interfaces and does not require advanced programming skills.

A typical use case is the automated end-to-end verification of application processes. A customer’s insurance needs are recorded digitally, processed across several connected systems, and completed all the way through to account posting. drvless interacts with all involved applications – from web frontend to SAP – and is fully integrated into twinformatics existing Test Automation Factory. Results are automatically transferred back into the central test management system (Jira/Xray).

The introduction of drvless took place in close collaboration with Objentis, including training, joint workshops, and the development of a server-based variant of drvless.

Benefits of drvless

drvless makes it possible to automate even non-standardizable applications and reduce maintenance effort by around 25%. Test cases can be created intuitively and without deep IT knowledge, and adjustments to new interfaces can be made quickly. The tool is particularly valuable in areas where traditional frameworks reach their limits.

The solution supports future extensions such as RPA or application monitoring and is scalable and future-proof through its integration into existing processes.
